Dalian City (International Christian) Church

The Bible:
We believe in every Word of the Old and New Testaments. God inspired humans to write without error. The Bible is the Word of God. It is the standard of faith as well as the absolute truth for every aspect in a believer's life.(2 Timothy 3:16-17)

God, the Father:
We believe in the One True and Eternal God, the Creator of the Heavens and the earth and everything contained therein. There is one God existent in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Each person is equal but has a different role, working together to deliver man from sin to receive salvation. (Matthew 28:19, 2 Corinthians 13:14) The work of Jesus is to glorify the Father. The work of the Holy Spirit is to bring us to Christ.

Jesus Christ:
We believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, Our Lord and Saviour, who was supernaturally conceived through the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. While on earth, He was both perfectly God and perfectly man at the same time, and was born, live and died without sin. He was crucified on the cross to save mankind from sin and physically rose from the dead on the third day to fulfill the will of the Father to provide salvation from sin to each person who turns from sin and believes in Him. He ascended physically to heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. One day in the future, He will come again a second time to establish His kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. (Luke 1:26-38, Philippians 2:5-11, Hebrews 1:3-4)

The Comforter, the Holy Spirit:
We believe that the Holy Spirit is God who convicts people of sin and draws them to turn from their sin, put their faith in the finished work of Jesus on the Cross and be 'born again by the Spirit, from above. The Holy Spirit dwells within each 'believer' to enable them to lead holy lives. As well, He helps believers live lives in obedience to His will and in service to the 'Body of Christ' using the gifts He has given them. We believe each gift of the Holy Spirit mentioned in the Bible is still active in the Church today and should be developed to build up the Body. The baptism of the Holy Spirit, an experience which may be considered separate from being born again, gives Christians power to serve God. There should be an eventual manifestation of at least one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit mentioned in the Bible (1st Corinthians 12-14, etc.) The Love of God, (Romans 5:5) Power to preach the Gospel (Acts 1:8) and the Fruit of The Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22,23) should also be evidenced in the Life of the 'believer'. In the Christian life, every believer must live in obedience to Christ and be under the covering of the Holy Spirit. A Christian should always be filled with the Holy Spirit. (Luke 24:49, John 15:26, Romans 12, Acts 2:4) ('believer': one who has received Christ as their Saviour by repenting and put their faith in Jesus)

Angels and Evil Spirits:
We believe God created many angels. These angels were created without sin, but Lucifer intentionally sinned and was then called Satan. Some of the angels followed him to become fallen angels. Satan has ruled in this sinful world; however, he does not have power over God or his children. He endeavors to destroy God's plan and man's life. (Ezekiel 28:13-15, Isaiah 14:12-14) 1st Peter 5:8 'Be clear-minded and alert. Your opponent the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour."

Mankind: (Humans)
We believe that Adam and Eve were created sinless, but they intentionally sinned, (disobeyed God) causing all humans to fall under the power of sin. For this reason, it is necessary for every person to receive 'Salvation' through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Jesus who is completely without sin, took the punishment for our sins, so if we return to God, he can clean our sins away and give us His Spirit. Without this salvation, a person will receive the penalty of eternal destruction in hell, just as criminals do on earth. (Genesis 1:26, Romans 5:12-18)

Salvation:
We believe that a person can only be saved when he or she puts his or her faith in the Lord Jesus. Salvation is given by the grace of God and not because of one's own works. (Ephesians 2:8-9) True confession, faith and trust in Christ will lead to repentance from sin. (Romans 10:9,10, 13) At the point of salvation, an individual becomes a 'new creation' in Christ and is gradually transformed to become more like Jesus. He should then follow Christ in the waters of baptism according to His Command. (2 Corinthians 5:17-20, Romans 12:1,2, Acts 2;37)

The Church (God's Family, The Body of Christ):
We believe in the worldwide (universal) Church, made up of all those who trust in Christ throughout every age, together as the Body of Christ. In the same way, we believe in local churches which are made up of believers who regularly meet together in different areas to worship, hear the Word of God, fellowship, witness, take communion and pray, among other activities. Every Christian should be a member of a local church.

The Church is God's ambassador on earth. (2nd Corinthians 5:17-20) and His way of answering human problems. God's intent is to use the Church to touch every part of every human life in the world. The church is necessary for the needs of every human to be met and is the principle instrument that God uses to do so. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27, Ephesians 3:9-10) The church must preach the Gospel and Baptize believers in order that they may come into a personal and corporate relationship with God. (Acts 2:37-42)

Baptism and Communion:
We believe that baptism is the immersion of a person completely in water as a symbol of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. Those receiving baptism must be born again and have put their trust in the Lord Jesus. Communion is a ceremony to remember the death of Jesus and look forward to His Second Coming. It is to be celebrated often, when believers gather together, until Jesus returns. (Acts 2:34-38, 1 Corinthians 11:23-32) We at DCC celebrate the Lord's Supper at every Sunday Service and also at the first care-group and Ministry meeting of each month.

Health and Healing:
We believe it is God's intention to keep His children healthy and to heal Christians who have sicknesses or diseases. The Church mshould follow the command of Christ to pray for the healing of the sick. The miraculous power of God is still active today. (James 5:13-16) We do not reject medicines or procedures from medical science, nor do we believe that God always heals the sick immediately. However we acknowledge that at times he has a purpose in gradually healing people. (Acts 4:30, 1 Corinthians 12:9, James 5:14) We do not reject place of doctors, hospitals and medicine, (as well as natural remedies, along with exercise, rest and diet) as useful and a blessing from God.

Prayer, Praise and Worship:
We believe that Christians should worship the Lord in Spirit and in Truth. Worship is acknowledging the worthiness of God and opening our hearts to God in gratitude and praise. Worshipping according to Biblical patterns enables us to use outward expressions to come close to God. Some of the patterns we find in Scriptures include worship with other Christians, using musical instrument, singing, dancing and using the gifts of the Holy Spirit during worship times. (John 4:23-24, Psalm 150:1-6) At DCC we make a priority of Prayer and encourage all members and ministry team to be in Tuesday Night prayer Meetings. (6-8pm) Prayer is two way communication with God and the basis of our spiritual life.

Eternal Judgment:
We believe that every person will rise from the dead on the final day (or if Christians at Christ's Second Coming). Believers (those who have turned from their sins and put their faith in Jesus to be saved by Grace) will live with God in Heaven and will be eternally blessed. Those who do not believe will be judged and receive eternal punishment in hell. (Please see; John 3:36, John 5:24, 2 Thessalonians 1:9, Revelation 20:10-15)

Obedience to the Great Commission of Jesus Christ:
According to Matthew 28:18-20, every Christian must live their lives to fulfill the Great Commission, regardless of ethnicity, economy, gender or geography. Our intention is to reach the entire world for God; acting locally, but thinking globally.

A Biblical method for evangelizing the world is to plant 'seed churches'. A seed church is one that inherently has the potential to plant other churches until the entire country is saturated with such churches. (Acts 1:8) Mark 4:30 He was also saying, "How can we show what the kingdom of God is like, or what parable can we use to describe it? 31 It is like a mustard seed planted in the ground. Although it is the smallest of all the seeds on earth, 32 when it is planted it comes up and becomes larger than all the garden plants. It grows such large branches that the birds in the sky can nest in its shade."
